ACC leases from Konica Minolta

Identifies preferred vendor for insurance technology solution

The Accident Compensation Corporation has replaced around 900 faxes, printers, scanners and copiers with 200 multi-functional devices from Konica Minolta.

An ACC spokesman says the value of the contract is commercially sensitive, but that the devices have been leased rather than bought.

He says the tender process was begun before the Government introduced its new procurement policy.

“However, we are in regular contact with the Ministry of Economic Development about it,” the spokesman says.

Meanwhile ACC has identified a preferred vendor to provide the integrated insurance technology solution it went to tender for last November.

The new system is expected to deliver higher level of levy payer self-service and greater efficiencies, better data and better customer service. The tender documents also reveal significant back-end architecture changes, for example ACC is seeking to reduce the numbers of servers by 70 percent through virtualisation and consolidation

“We are currently doing some initial scoping, design and planning work with them,” an ACC spokesman says. “Once that initial work is completed, we will be in a position to make decisions about how we proceed and with whom.

“We don’t expect to be able to make any announcements until the ACC executive and board have made final decisions. This will be in December at the earliest.”

Currently, core systems are provided by Sun, Oracle and IBM. Microsoft provides the office software.
