Solnet boosts AAMI with iPhone claims app

Five week project aims to service unique demographic

Solnet Solutions has designed an iPhone-based insurance claim application for an Australian motor vehicle insurer.

Just Car Insurance is AAMI’s specialist car insurer, offering insurance services for younger drivers and their unique cars. Apple’s iPhone was seen as a flagship platform for its target market.

The application had to be easy to use, requiring little or no user documentation, consistent with Just Car’s branding and market position, and able to integrate with Just Car’s existing business processes via email.

Solnet was chosen as the developer, based on its existing range of services provided to Just Car’s parent companies AAMI and Suncorp.

Solnet solutions architect Steve Greenley says the process took just five weeks, then another five weeks to go through the Apple approval process.

“Just Car’s demographic shows around 60 percent of people use iPhones,” he says. “This new application was to coincide with a new marketing campaign.

“We provided a complete end to end service, including the initial design, implementation, then delivery to Apple’s iTunes application store.”

Greenley says the agile development process used for the project allowed Solnet to share working examples of the application with Just Car as soon as features were implemented.

The client was able to effectively supervise the direction of the project at a fine-grained level, without a need for technical knowledge of the target platform, he says.
