Police seek information security manager

Key IT security role sought

The New Zealand Police is seeking an information security manager, to be based at the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua.

The job description notes: “The manager: security will be required to guarantee business assurance that New Zealand Police critical assets are effectively managed and secure.

“This will be accomplished by overseeing the ICT risk management process, maintaining the information security management system and ensuring NZ Police is capable of meeting its obligations for national security policy compliance and the organisation’s commitment to the New Zealand Cyber Security Strategy.

“In this role you will strive for operational excellence and be required to further develop and oversee delivery of the information roadmap initiatives, prepare the annual security programme of work, provide input into the ICT strategic plan and ensure security is aligned to the Police National Operations processes and procedures.”

Other requirements include expert knowledge of cyber security issues, emerging technology developments and good practice migration techniques; extensive knowledge and understanding of the security development lifecycle; and clear evidence of delivering security services as a value-added business enabler and the ability to balance security with usability.

The successful applicant will report to the NZ Police chief technical officer.
