TelstraClear partners for northern push

Northpower fibre network to provide high speed services backbone

TelstraClear and Northpower have signed a memorandum of understanding to allow TelstraClear to deliver voice and high speed broadband services over Northpower’s fibre optic network.

The network runs through the most of Whangarei.

“In a market where speed is key, the fact that Northpower has already built the network means our salespeople will be in Whangarei talking to customers very soon about options to make their business go fast,” TelstraClear CEO Allan Freeth said in a statement today.

Northpower Chief Executive Mark Gatland says the fibre network will give Whangarei businesses an edge over other New Zealand cities.

"It shows how we can deliver infrastructure that helps businesses do more and operate more cost effectively,” he says.

The next step is for the two companies to develop systems to connect their networks, including enhancements by TelstraClear to fibre between Auckland and Whangarei. This should be completed before Christmas, the statement says.
