MSN revamps NZ web offering

New-look site offers YouTube-like video sharing

MSN has relaunched its local web offering, including a beta of a user-generated video service, called Soapbox.

MSN split with Telecom's internet service provider Xtra earlier this year. It's current content partners include the New Zealand Herald, TV3, ACP magazines and newly signed MetService.

MSN business manager Liz Fraser says the re-launch marks a new phase for MSN, offering the site's 1.2 million monthly customers MSN an improved blend of online and video news and entertainment. MSN’s homepage and news, sport and weather categories have been redesigned and Soapbox will allow customers to view, upload and share video. Later this month travel and lifestyle categories will be added, the company says. Windows Live Messenger also gets a refresh, offering easier access to content through a new-look Windows Live Messenger Today page. Through the partnership with NZ Herald publisher APN, MSN will offer nzherald.co.nz readers new services, including Windows Live Messenger, allowing Herald online readers to message stories to their friends and web search using Live Search.
