HP restructuring begins

Hewlett-Packard has made the first of its restructuring changes in New Zealand, with the disestablishment of the position of enterprise sales manager.

Mike Hill, who had had the role for some years, is in negotiation over other positions within the company, says corporate and enterprise marketing manager Jeff Healey.

He says HP locally has made a number of recommendations to South Pacific HQ in Australia, but he can’t disclose details.

“We were running two sales models at the high end, enterprise and public sector [run by Gillian Dymock],” Healey says.

“We’re verticalising our sales practices, simplifying and optimising the sales model, and flattening the structure to report to [managing director] Keith Watson.

“We will have fewer layers.”

Healey won’t comment on the possibility of other positions being disestablished.

Worldwide, Hewlett-Packard has signalled 14,500 jobs will go.
