NZ healthcare software maker sold

Auckland-based medical software provider i-health has been bought by British health software company iSOFT in a deal that will see the 30 staff of i-health and sister company the Galen Group remain in New Zealand.

"The i-health electronic health record is being built into the iSOFT product set and distributed globally," i-health director Brian Allen says.

"New Zealand will be a centre of excellence for iSOFT."

Allen won't reveal the price iSOFT paid for i-health, but says it is based on a cash sum and future i-health product sales.

Clients of i-health include Dunedin Hospital, the Waikato District Health Board, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Britain's Wirral Health Informatics Service.

Web-based EHRs (electronic health records) are its speciality.
