CityLink peeks above parapet

CityLink product development head Hamish MacEwan says popping up in Deloitte's list of 50 fast-growing New Zealand companies signifies a "peek above the parapet" for the broadband network provider.

CityLink product development head Hamish MacEwan (right) says popping up in the Deloitte/Unlimited list of 50 fast-growing New Zealand companies signifies a “peek above the parapet” for the broadband network provider.

The company, whose origins go back a decade to a Wellington City Council city-wide network project, has about 400 customers in the capital for its fibre-optic ethernet network. It’s expanding its Wellington activities by offering a centralised storage service (see Broadband firm branches out into storage business).

MacEwan says it’s also “cautiously” getting into the Auckland market. It has laid about 4km of fibre in the Auckland CBD (compared with 60km slung alongside Wellington’s trolley bus cables). “We’re creating the physical infrastructure before a business infrastructure.”
