Dear What Am I Worth,

I am working for a global IT service provider in Wellington. I am part of a team providing remote desktop support to a client base of 600+ users. With more than five years’ support experience in the IT industry, I have supported a wide range of systems and products. The most notable are: MS Office, Access development using VBA, Win 3x, MS-DOS, Win 9x, Win NT 4.0 Workstation\Server, MS Exchange 5.5 and W2K Professional\Server.

I have supported Compaq, IBM and HP desktops and printers to the break\fix level. My network support experience is at an intermediate stage but I would like to work my way up to a consultancy role in network architecture.

I have a BCA in Information Systems from Victoria University and am studying towards my MCSE (W2K Professional and W2K Server already completed). Should I seek a better deal across the Tasman or in the US?

TMP Worldwide replies: Your experience suggests a salary range of $45,000 to $52,000 and with additional skills and experience up to $65,000. Both the Australian and US markets are flat at the moment but that will change in the next four months.
