Online job advertisements have picked up in the first two months of the year after dropping markedly in December, but have yet to reach the peak of 14,527 in September.

Online job ads hit 14,012 in February over the six sites the ANZ Bank monitors, a rise of 4.3% over the previous month.

ANZ chief economist Bernard Hodgetts suggests online ad numbers may be starting to stabilise now that internet job sites have become well established.
