Looking to juice up its offerings for customers who publish material on the Internet, Adobe Systems has acquired privately held GoLive Systems for an undisclosed sum.
GoLive, of Menlo Park, California, makes GoLive CyberStudio, a professional Web design and publishing software, as well as the GoLive Web publishing system.
Adobe said the acquisition shows it is committed to providing tools that allow customers to publish content on the Internet and build dynamic Web sites.
Adobe and rival Quark Inc. both have been criticised in the past for being too slow to react to the Internet and meet their customers' Web publishing needs.
Founded in 1996, GoLive Systems has offices in Hamburg, Germany; Tempe, Arizona; and Austin, Texas. Customers include Warner Records, Virgin Records and Apple Computer.
