Enprise acquires Datagate

Enprise Group CEO Mark Loveys said Datagate founder Tim Mulcock will continue to lead Datagate as a wholly-owned Enprise Group subsidiary

Enprise Group has acquired Datagate Innovation Limited, a cloud software development company specialising in online reporting and billing portals for telcos, utility companies and hosted service providers. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Enprise Group CEO Mark Loveys said Datagate founder Tim Mulcock will continue to lead Datagate as a wholly-owned Enprise Group subsidiary, and also become a significant Enprise Group shareholder.

Mulcock was a co-founder of EMS Cortex, a global cloud control panel provider for the cloud/hosting industry. The company was acquired by Enprise in 2006 and subsequently sold to Citrix Corporation in 2011 for a reported $20 million.

Datagate has been in business for around 18 months and uses Microsoft Azure technology.

“In the software business, first of all you invest in people,” he says. “Tim has a great track record in terms of his ability to see a market need and use the dynamics of the cloud computing model to develop and bring to market truly world-leading cloud solutions.

“I’m very enthusiastic about the synergies between Datagate and Enprise. Datagate will leverage Enprise’s extensive international contacts within the hosting industry and also leverage our strong background in business management and ERP software. Already, Datagate and our Enprise Solutions division are talking in unison with common potential customers.

“Datagate has a particularly sharp focus on cloud and hosted service providers. These comprise a strong global market vertical that Enprise can apply to its international sales channel and ERP-based partnerships.”

Datagate will retain its own brand under the Enprise Group umbrella.

Listed on the National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX) last year, Enprise Group (ENS) now has three operating divisions: Enprise Solutions, Enprise Software and Datagate Innovation Ltd.

Enprise Solutions is a specialist provider of solutions based on the MYOB EXO software platform. It supports more than 700 MYOB EXO customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Enprise Software is an international SAP Business One software development partner. It develops, sells and supports a suite of add-on modules for the SAP Business One business software platform through a global reseller channel.

Datagate currently employs five people. Loveys says he is expecting staff numbers to double over the year.
