Earthquake Commission to deploy cloud-based ERP

EQC’s chief financial officer, Emma Hicks, says it selected the SAP Business One solution because it aligned directly with the commission’s strategic criteria for the efficient management and settlement of natural disaster claims.

The Earthquake Commission (EQC) of New Zealand is implementing an SAP Business One OnDemand solution. The deployment is being carried out by UXC Oxygen, which states that it is one of the first cloud-based ERP solutions for a New Zealand government agency.

EQC’s chief financial officer, Emma Hicks, says it selected the SAP Business One solution because it aligned directly with the commission’s strategic criteria for the efficient management and settlement of natural disaster claims.

“SAP Business One OnDemand gives us a reliable, flexible cloud-based financial management solution. It will provide us with better financial and management reporting which in turn will improve the quality of decision-making information available to senior management.”

The Earthquake Commission provides natural disaster insurance for residential property, administers the Natural Disaster Fund, and funds research and education on natural disasters and ways of reducing their impact.

Hicks says the solution uses the cloud to provide the commission with virtual hardware and operating system infrastructure. “By using cloud provisioning we are able to get integrated business management software up and running for less time and cost than we would implementing an on-premise solution.”

The EQC expects the new solution to streamline its financial management activities. “It will help us to minimise errors, automate reporting and further improve spending control,” says Hicks.

UXC Oxygen CEO Stuart Dickinson says the SAP Business One OnDemand solution gives businesses the ability to purchase and use SAP for a per user subscription fee. “What we are doing is getting organisations up and running on SAP Business One rapidly; delivering it via the cloud makes this possible,” says Dickinson. “The pricing is simple and transparent with payments covering software and support.”

The SAP Business One OnDemand solution is a component of the overall UXC Oxygen SAP cloud platform offering, which additionally covers SAP Business All-in-One and SAP Business Objects solutions.
