TUANZ's new CEO, Craig Young, to start in October

Craig Young will take over the reins of Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ) starting October 13th 2014.

His appointment comes on the heels of CEO Paul Brislen's resignation from TUANZ to set up a PR company with Jane Sweeney in March this year.

Young comes to TUANZ from a six year stint at Chorus where he most recently lead the industry relations programme. He joined Chorus at the date of operational separation in 2008 as the head of business development, and before that was GM of wholesale commercial development at TelstraClear.

He has worked in the New Zealand IT and telecommunications industry in one form or another since 1997.

TUANZ Chair, Pat O’Connell, said Young brings a wealth of industry experience to the role.

“We are particularly pleased to have attracted someone of Craig’s calibre and experience”, said O’Connell. “This is strong affirmation of the critical role TUANZ plays in the New Zealand telecommunications sector.”

Young said he’s looking forward to the opportunity to shape TUANZ and to lead it into its next phase of development.

Chorus CEO Mark Ratcliffe has stated his support for the move.

“Craig’s vision and experience and his naturally collaborative style make him a real asset to the telecommunications industry and I have no doubt he will do great things in his new role,” said Ratcliffe.

Young is due to finish his role with Chorus in early September, before beginning work with TUANZ in October.
