Eroad forms alliance with US-based trucking solutions provider

Eroad CEO Steven Newman said that many US trucking fleets used specialist providers like Glostone to help them meet their weight-mile tax and compliance commitments.

Transport technology and services company Eroad has formed an alliance with US trucking services company Glostone Trucking Solutions, to make the latter its dealer in the USA and Canada.

Eroad CEO Steven Newman said that many US trucking fleets used specialist providers like Glostone to help them meet their weight-mile tax and compliance commitments.

“We’re pleased they see a valuable role for EROAD’s solution in terms of electronic record keeping and tax and compliance services,” he said.

Glostone president Dave Gray said, “We prepare road use taxes for hundreds of carriers and work with data generated from a number of other on board systems. Eroad is the only system independently tested and approved by the State of Oregon for tracking distance and weight group configurations used in the payment of its Oregon Weight Mile Tax.

“I would recommend EROAD to any carrier requiring accurate distance data for tax reporting and record keeping as part of their in-cab technology solution," he said.

Oregon is one of four states in the USA that levies a weight-mile tax for heavy vehicles, similar to New Zealand road user charges (RUC). The company added a second reference site in the state in April this year.

Eroad launched its electronic RUC service in New Zealand in 2009, and currently collects more than 20 per cent of New Zealand’s heavy vehicle RUC.
