IT Engine: Reaping the rewards of Microsoft's Partner Awards

As Microsoft opens up submissions for its upcoming 2014 Partner Awards, one Kiwi tech firm continues to reap the rewards of this year’s honouring.

Locally owned Wellington-based company IT Engine, a provider of IT solutions for New Zealand businesses, was a big winner during the ceremony this year, picking up multiple awards in a cloud dominated event.

Standing tall with big guns such as Gen-i, now Spark Digital, IT Engine collected both the Server Platform and Small Business Solution Provider awards, as well as coming close in the Midmarket Solution Provider category as well.

“It’s a great endorsement to be recognised,” says Delia Gill, Managing Director, IT Engine, recalling the win from the company’s Te Aro offices.

“We’ve noticed a significant increase in business opportunities during the last few months especially and I do believe it’s a direct result of the awards.

“Of course it doesn’t guarantee business but it’s proved great in helping get our foot in the door and validates what we are doing as a company.”

IT Engine won the Small Business award for the work they did for The Rural General Practitioners Network (RGPN), shifting them to a hybrid cloud service.

“Given our size it was great to go up against the big guys and win,” adds Gill, who recalls taking the scalp of Dimension Data and Kinetics.

“I think the key to our success is that we provide a lot of options for our customers, we offer flexibility and that matters."

Originally part of the Quay Computers retail store in Lambton Quay, Quay Corporate established itself as the corporate arm of the business back in 1997.

In 2008, Gill, operating then as the General Manager purchased the business before rebranding to IT Engine four years later.
