Chorus has advised that an outage that affected parts of Auckland overnight was caused by an issue with Chorus’ network.

A fault with some of Chorus’ broadband electronics during network restoration activities caused an outage in the Mayoral Drive exchange at 8.39pm last night but the service was restored after 18 minutes.

About 15,000 people using fibre services were affected.

"Chorus apoligises for any inconvenience this may have caused," a spokesperson for Chorus told Computerworld New Zealand.
