Quin focuses on successor following Spark reshuffle

Outgoing Spark Home, Mobile & Business CEO Chris Quin insists his priorities lie with helping his successor Jason Paris, as he begins his final six months at Spark New Zealand.

Following today’s announcement that Quin will depart the company following 20 years of service, the telco veteran says he is proud of his record, particularly since the appointment of Simon Moutter as CEO in October 2012.

“I’m very proud of my record within the Home, Mobile & Business division of Spark and will be leaving the organisation in good health come June,” said Quin, speaking to Computerworld NZ.

“In terms of my next move, I have no immediate plans other than to help develop my successor, and timing wise it’s great to manage this well for the business.

Leaving with the full praise and backing of Moutter, following the company’s well-documented new business strategy, Quin will be replaced by Jason Paris, GM Spark Home, Mobile & Business.

Since August 2014, Quin has been accountable for the performance of Spark in its Consumer and SME market, delivering $1.8 billion of revenue and $700 million EBITA during his time in the role.

As noted on Quin’s LinkedIn page, key achievements include assisting in the recruitment of 250,000 new customers joining Spark, as well as revenue and profit growth during FY14, the first since 2005.

But despite a wealth of experience within the industry, Quin is keeping his options open regarding his next career move.

“Looking forward I am excited about what next and will consider widely the opportunities and at present my focus remains on completing the work at hand, and ensuring I leave the house in good order," he told Computerworld NZ.
