New Zealand’s Vibe Communications acquires RackCentral

Colocation and virtual server provider acquired for undisclosed sum

New Zealand-based telco and network wholesaler Vibe Communications has acquired Melbourne-based colocation and virtual server provider RackCentral for an undisclosed sum.

RackCentral provides customers with colocation, virtual private servers (VPS), cloud hosting and physical server hosting on monthly contracts.

According to Vibe Communications CEO Rudi Heder, customers will be able to use the combined services of both companies to create end-to-end network services, including connectivity and infrastructure on demand in real time.

Commenting on the infrastructure, RackCentral CEO Shaun McGuane said that it can now grow at a faster pace.

“Vibe and RackCentral have complementary customer bases and also share a number of the same suppliers which adds to our scale in A/NZ and makes us an even stronger competitor in the hosting space,” he said.

As part of the acquisition, Hefer will be appointed CEO of RackCentral while McGuane will move into a newly created role of chief infrastructure officer for both brands.
