Vector to deploy mPrest energy IoT and analytics system

Energy and communications network operator Vector has secured exclusive Australasian rights to energy network monitoring, control and data analytics software from Israeli company mPrest that, it says, is able to use self-learning techniques to assess and predict a range of network variables including loads, market dynamics, storage, customer demand and capacity.

Vector CEO, Simon Mackenzie, said the software was revolutionary “You can think of it as a system of systems. The software sits over customer, market, distributed energy resources and network systems managing performance in real time. This greatly enhances the resilience, security and efficiency of customer solutions and our network.”

He added: “We have worked with mPrest to trial it and we are now moving to full implementation. In addition, we will jointly develop the system not only for our customers but others.”

mPrest CEO, Natan Barak said the software would enable Vector to offer innovative solutions co-ordinated in a complex system. “The company will be better able to assist customers capitalise on new energy technologies and optimise the energy use in their home or business,” he said.

According to Vector, its relationship with mPrest was initiated after a New Zealand Innovation Mission to Israel in 2016 and follows Vector’s recent acquisition of ECo Products and PowerSmart to help deliver its energy transformation strategy.

mPrest describes itself as a global provider of mission-critical monitoring and control solutions for the defence, security, utility and industrial internet of things (IoT) sectors that delivers products to “connect the dots across multiple complex systems of any scale – from a single facility to a multinational corporation.”
