NZX-listed health software company, Orion Health (NZX: OHE) has scored a five year deal for deployment in Singapore of a healthcare enterprise service bus underpinned by its interoperability product, the Rhapsody Integration Engine.

Orion said that, under an agreement with Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS), the health technology agency for Singapore, Rhapsody would deliver the interoperability services and infrastructure for the National Electronic Health Record of Singapore.

Orion Health executive vice president for Asia Pacific, Darren Jones, said Rhapsody would improve how systems across the health system in Singapore integrate and communicate with each other.

Orion describes Rhapsody as its ‘foundation product’ saying it is the enabler that brings systems together through seamless data integration, and “achieves rapid and scalable interoperability within complex healthcare environments by connecting systems seamlessly, in less time, and at a lower cost.”

Orion said the project would commence immediately with the upskilling of the IHiS team on Rhapsody’s capabilities, and it would collaborate with IHiS to build of a series of interfaces to kick start the project.

Singapore’s decision to use Rhapsody follows the release in May by the Singapore Government of a health IT master plan that called, among other things, for much greater integration between different areas of health IT.

These included: the development of common data analytic capabilities to link data across healthcare and non-healthcare data sources; development of a common platform for providers to engage patient/caregiver/consumer to interact with healthcare providers; development of a set of common capabilities to allow regional health systems to integrate various providers’ IT system.
