DataTorque to provide tax software and services to Barbados

Wellington based software company DataTorque has secured a three year contract to supply its revenue management system (RMS) to the Government of Barbados where it will be used to improved tax collection efficiency. 

DataTorque managing director Bill Chatwin said DataTorque’s RMS and consultancy services would help the Barbados Revenue Authority replace legacy systems across its full range of tax types. 

DataTorque has partnered with Canadian firm C2D Services to install RMS  for the Barbados Revenue Authority, an organisation established in 2014 to consolidate the compliance and enforcement functions of the Inland Revenue Department, the Land Tax Department, the VAT and Excise divisions of Customs and the revenue collection functions of the Licensing Authority of the Ministry of Transport. 

The contact -- won as the result of an international tender -- makes Barbados DataTorque’s third client in the Caribbean region. In May it announced a six year contract from the Government of Canada to produce a French language version of its RMS taxation management system and implement it for Haiti’s tax authority, also in partnership with C2D Services. 

In 2015 the Bahamas Ministry of Finance selected DataTorque to implement an integrated tax administration system following the introduction of a new value added tax.
