Auckland Transport opts for Infor cloud-based asset management

Auckland Transport has chosen Infor to provide a cloud based asset management system under a multi-year contract that will enable it to standardise and manage its assets in compliance with international standards.

Infor said the new system would replace numerous current siloed systems and spreadsheets, providing for the citizens of Auckland  improved service delivery and better value for money and life from its assets and enable Auckland Transport to align its asset management with the ISO 55000 principles of the International Organization for Standardization. 

Infor said its CloudSuite EAM would help Auckland transport optimise the management of its $19b worth of assets across the organisation to attain better decision-making and, ultimately, boost customer satisfaction.

“The Infor CloudSuite EAM solution will provide AT with a modern asset information system to support collaboration and an evidence-based culture of decision-making across all asset classes and asset lifecycle phases,” Infor said.

“Going forward, the ability to use building information modelling supported tools and technologies and other spatial attributes is also important to Auckland Transport to enrich the user experience.”

Auckland Transport CEO Shane Ellison said Infor had been chosen “for its deep industry expertise, innovative culture and strong track record in asset-intensive implementations, particularly in the transportation sector with reference names such as the MTAs of New York and San Francisco.”

Infor said CloudSuite EAM would enable Auckland Transport to align its asset management with the ISO 55000 principles of the International Organization for Standardization being adopted by Auckland Transport.

ISO 5500 new to New Zealand

Auckland Transport’s adoption of ISO 5500 family of standards will put it among only a handful of New Zealand companies compliant with the standard.

In March 2018, Unison Networks Limited became the first company in New Zealand to attain certification to the ISO 55001 standard. Pioneer Energy is also implemented an ISO 55000 asset management system with a target date for attaining compliance in 2019 and will be one of the first companies in New Zealand to achieve this. according to its website.

According to the assetmanagement.com website, the latest version of ISO 55000, ISO 55002:2018, was introduced in October 2018. Key updates include much clearer guidance to successfully implement ISO 55001, incorporation of the experience of 31 countries spanning four years in implementing asset management systems, and updates base on the actual journeys, challenges and experiences of successful early adopters of the standard.
