IT recycler Greenbox enters NZ market with Recytech acquisition

Auckland based IT equipment recycler, Recytech has been acquired by Australian IT asset lifecycle management company, Greenbox, which has pledged to expand Recytech’s operations nationwide.

Greenbox CEO Daniel Pritchard said many global companies operated a combined Australia and New Zealand subsidiary and want access to the same IT asset disposal services across both countries. He claimed the acquisition of Recytech would make Greenbox the first company able to offer such services.

“We will maintain all the existing roles and will investigate the best way to take the service national – this may be based on organic growth or through additional acquisitions,” he said.

“Recytech has been working with companies such as IBM and Flexigroup for a number of years and is a leader in its field in New Zealand. We look forward to learning about the specific needs of the New Zealand market from the Recytech team and to expand its service offering.”

Greenbox’s range of IT asset services covers pre-deployment through to data security services and disposal. The company holds R2 (Responsible Recycling), ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards accreditation in Australia and says it aims to bring the New Zealand business up to the same standards.

Greenbox founder and director, Shane Mulholland said Greenbox had worked with Recytech for more than 10 years and knew the company well. “We had explored a number of options to enable expansion into New Zealand and acquiring Recytech was the logical step.

Recytech was established in 2009 by Graeme Svensen and Paul Beattie and is based on Auckland’s North Shore.
