Public Wi-Fi hotspot provider Zenbu has merged with New Zealand Technology Group, which comprise a number of IT and services companies. It says the move will create the largest, best supported Wi-Fi hotspot service in the country.
Zenbu has been providing Wi-Fi hotspots to the accommodation, hospitality and retail sectors for 13 years and claims to serve more than 2,000 businesses in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
Zenbu hotspots allow multiple users to access internet services in cafés, motels or retail environments. It also enables businesses to charge for its service.
Zenbu says the ‘merger’ enables it to tap into the “huge network of brands” that reside under the New Zealand Technology Group banner.
Financial details of the transaction was not disclosed.
“By utilising the resources these brands offer, Zenbu can pass on these benefits to their ever-growing customer base,” the company said.
“Zenbu can now offer customers complete enterprise solutions with business-grade internet speeds, data and voice services, as well as extended support from the largest nationwide network of onsite engineers.”
Zenbu CEO Chris Woodhams said the merger had enabled the company to increase its reach by adding field services, data and voice services to its product suite.
New Zealand Technology Group comprises: One Technology; IT support company, needanerd; hosting and cloud provider, Web Connect; online backup provider, Mozzie; ISP Spectrum; Wholesale Group; medical technology company, MedStar.
One Technology was formed in July 2019 by merging nine smaller IT companies: Horizon Pacific, Highfield Solutions, Mint Technology, One Communications, Strategic IT, Swift Technology, The Computer Centre, Technologix, and Wasp.
