FRAMINGHAM (03/03/2004) - he Port of Pittsburgh Commission is seeking a software company to develop, integrate and install software and related hardware for a navigation system that would make it easier for towboat pilots to enter river locks in bad weather.

High-tech jobs fell 51% in 2003

Despite a fourth-quarter surge in job cuts in the telecommunications sector, high-tech job cuts declined last year to 228,325. That figure was 51% lower than the 468,161 cuts announced in 2002 by technology companies, which include computer, telecommunications, electronics and e-commerce firms, according to Chicago-based outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

USPS to halt online bill-paying service

FRAMINGHAM (11/17/2003) - The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) said it will discontinue eBillPay, its online bill-paying service, as of April 4, 2004. In a filing with the Postal Rate Commission on Friday, Nicholas Barranca, the Postal Service's vice president for product development, said the USPS won't renew its contract for the service with CheckFree Corp. when it expires.
