Christchurch leads demand for permanent IT staff

High demand for permanent staff over contractors in the IT sector highlights employer confidence and a focus on meeting long-term agendas for market growth, according to the latest Absolute IT Employer Intentions Survey.
Released this week, the six-monthly Employer Intentions Report shows an expected 1600 vacancies are due to hit the market over the next 12 months – with 73 percent of the 550 respondents seeking permanent positions.

Telecom confirms November 30 demerger date

Telecom has confirmed receipt of the final court orders from the High Court, which allows the demerger of Chorus to proceed as planned, on 30 November 2011.
Telecom says it will demerge its Chorus local fixed line infrastructure business, to enable it to participate in the Government’s Ultra-fast Broadband initiative.
