    ​The Commerce Commission has concluded its year-long investigation into New Zealand’s mobile telecommunications services market, re-iterating its earlier provisional findings that competition is healthy, despite strident complaints on its provisional findings.

    Dr Stephen Gale has been re-appointed telecommunications commissioner and a member of the Commerce Commission for a further three years when his current term ends on 11 July.

  • Sky Vodafone merger OKed, as an overseas investment

    The Overseas Investment Office has granted its consent to the merger of SKY Network Television and Vodafone New Zealand. However, there is no suggestion, despite at least one press report to the contrary, that this decision will override the Commerce Commission’s rejection, in February of the deal on the basis that it would be anti-competitive.
