  • The Toybox top-five: best of 2008

    It is that time of year again, but before we head off to beaches and baches for the holidays, I thought this would be the perfect time to sum up the past 12 months here at Toybox headquarters, and at the same time give you some Christmas gift inspiration. Below is my top-five list of toys and gadgets that have passed through since January.

  • HP top ranking Q3 PC vendor across board

    HP tops the local PC market rankings. It took each of the three ‘Top vendor’ positions in IDC New Zealand’s PC Market Summary for the third quarter of 2008, with number one positions in Desktop, Portable and X86 Server. Acer placed prominently, taking third position in the Desktop and Portable categories, and fourth in the X86 Server category.

  • New Hewlett Packard division greens datacentres

    Bill Kosik knows a thing or two about building efficient datacentres. As managing principal of consultancy EYP Mission Critical Facilities in Chicago, Kosik helped Hewlett Packard plan its global project to consolidate 85 datacenters into just six.

  • NZX delays Linux system rollout

    The New Zealand Stock Exchange has delayed the rollout of a new Linux-based settlement and clearance system to allow stockbrokers more time to bring their technology up to date.

  • EDS appoints new ANZ head

    EDS has appointed David Caspari as its new head of operations in Australia and New Zealand. Caspari will assume the title of vice president, EDS ANZ, overseeing infrastructure services, business process outsourcing and applications solutions.

  • HP to buy LeftHand Networks

    Hewlett-Packard will buy LeftHand Networks for US$360 million (NZ4535 million) to fill in its storage virtualisation and iSCSI lines with products for medium-size companies and remote offices and branches.
