Almost on cue, PeopleSoft has declared its intention to consume JD Edwards. According to the predictions of analyst Gartner over the past couple of years, the merger of the two enterprise software companies will be just one of many such amalgamations over the next 12 months or so.

PeopleSoft shook the enterprise software application landscape on Monday by announcing that it plans to purchase JD Edwards & Co in a stock deal valued at approximately $US1.7 billion.
