Well-known Wellington geek Brenda Wallace cruised to victory for the second year running, in developer group Unlimited Potential’s contest for the best predictions for ICT in the year ahead.
IDC launched its predictions for 2010 last week, featuring consolidated buying in government and a restructure of the ultra-fast broadband plan that, in part, appears to support statements made last week by controversial analyst Paul Budde.

At the end of last month, Gartner highlighted 10 key predictions of events and developments it believes will affect IT and business in 2008 and beyond.
Some Decembers, I look to the coming year and pray that I can earn my keep on the unpredictable visits from my muse that result in a departure from some of my more done-to-death subjects. It’s something of a relief to leave 2006 behind, a year in which I spent loads of time yelling into the wind that Intel, despite its best work to-date, is further behind AMD than ever.
IT spending projections for the next 12 months decreased in the April-June quarter, as CIOs surveyed by CIO magazine in the US predicted they will increase IT spending by only 6.9% on average during the coming year.
It used to be a lot easier. Predicting the future, that is. Being an industry guru was a fun job.
