New Zealand has achieved strong representation in the shortlist for IDC’s Smart City Asia Pacific Awards 2017. New Zealand projects are finalists in six of the 14 award categories: Transportation; Public Works; Smart Grid; Smart Water; Connected Health; Tourism, Arts, Libraries, Culture, Open Spaces.
Counties Power, a lines company serving more than 37,000 customers in New Zealand’s North Island, is set to deploy a smart metering-as-a-service solution, delivered by Silver Spring Networks and Metrix.
A group of electricity companies, likely to include major generators, retailers and meter manufacturers, will hold a meeting in the next two weeks to discuss cooperation on appropriate “smart grid” standards.
