National’s Communications and Information Technology spokeswoman, Amy Adams, has promised that a re-elected National-led Government will establish a new $150 million fund to extend the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI).
Chorus has contracted Australian design and construction provider, Universal Communications Group (UCG), to connect Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) for multi-dwelling units (MDU) in Auckland and Wellington.
Chorus claims its Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network rollout is ahead of schedule, reporting that 228,000 premises had been passed by a fibre connection at March 31.
The government and Crown Fibre Holdings have reached agreement with UFB partners Chorus, Enable and Northpower that provides for free residential connections for distances of up to 200 metres per house from the road, until at least the end of 2015.
