Australian IT firm eyes NZ acquisitions

Deals will add to company's NZ operations, chairman says

Australian IT services company UXC is negotiating to buy three companies, all of which have operations in New Zealand.

UXC executive chairman Geoff Lord, who was in New Zealand last week to work on the deals, says the three acquisition prospects are a mix of Australian-based companies with operations in New Zealand and New Zealand-based firms with an Australian presence.

“We’re expecting to bring the three to a head between now and Christmas,” Lord says.

UXC already has between 50 and 60 staff in New Zealand and the three planned acquisitions will boost that number “significantly”, he says.

Much of UXC’s New Zealand revenue comes from its Wellington Oracle specialist Sequel Software which it acquired a year ago. UXC is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
