Vodafone says it has fixed a technical problem that interrupted its 3G text messaging services on Wednesday.
Spokesman Paul Brislen says the issue has been recurring, with the most recent instance taking the service down for four hours. He says the company's MMS service was not affected.
"We've had the problem a couple of time in the past," Brislen says. "It's been elusive but Nokia has put in a permanent patch."
He adds an alarm on the system to warn of problems has also been upgraded.
However, a quick test conducted this morning by Computerworld continued to show a failure in the MMS system.
