System development team leader

My experience is across all phases of the system development life-cycle in client-facing roles.

Dear What Am I Worth,

I am a system development team leader for a large financial institution in London and I'm considering moving back home to Wellington.

I have a first-class honours degree in information systems and six years' system development experience, specialising in Powerbuilder and relational databases including Oracle, Sybase and Informix. I also have recent professional training in Java.

My experience is across all phases of the system development life-cycle in client-facing roles. I have been leading a team of five developers for one year and have been responsible for work delegation, performance review, coaching and mentoring, quality assurance, leading JAD sessions with users, producing functional and technical specifications, and managing a project plan.

I also have consulting experience acquired while working for a "big five" management consultancy for two years.

Robert Walters IntelliMark replies: Your overseas experience will be very valuable in New Zealand, as there is a shortage of senior developers to fill the demand for senior development roles. Your experience in relational databases coupled with your Java training will make you viable to senior roles within Internet development teams. Your team leader experience is also a plus, and for a senior systems developer role you could expect to earn $90,000 and above.
