Countersuit brings new twist in Domainz saga

Manawatu Internet Services manager Alan Brown intends to counter-sue Domainz CEO Patrick O'Brien.

Manawatu Internet Services manager Alan Brown intends to counter-sue Domainz CEO Patrick O'Brien.

He claims O'Brien's own defamation suit against Brown has in turn defamed him by making untrue statements about him. Further, he says, the suit has led prospective clients to be wary of doing business with him and has thereby lost him at least two prospective contracts, worth around $70,000.

The counter-suit will be filed at the same time as Brown's statement of defence this month.

Meanwhile, O'Brien strenuously denies allegations from Brown that the details of the new contract between registrars - those organisations who register domain names - and Domainz will be kept secret.

The draft text of the contract is currently out with the 10 largest registrars, he says, and when this comment period is over the final text will be published on the Domainz Web site.
