No current plans for online Lotto

Hard luck for Lotto fanatics looking for an online fix in their lunch hours -- the Lotteries Commission says despite rumours it has no plans to accommodate Lotto ticket-buying over the internet.

Hard luck for Lotto fanatics looking for an online fix in their lunch hours — the Lotteries Commission says despite rumours it has no plans to accommodate Lotto ticket-buying over the internet.

In fact, says commission spokeswoman Flora Gilkison, last year’s government gaming review explicitly forbade the practice, at least for the present. The commission is not currently pushing for that attitude to be changed.

But Gilkison notes that there is no age restriction on buying a Lotto ticket, unlike an Instant Kiwi ticket, so if online Lotto ever happens the issue of security against underage purchasers won’t arise.
