Microsoft names Belluzzo as head of 'Net group

Microsoft has announced the roster of executives to lead its new interactive group, confirming speculation that Richard Belluzzo, the just-resigned CEO of Silicon Graphics, is heading its new online Consumer and Commerce Group.

Microsoft has announced the roster of executives that will lead its new interactive group, confirming speculation that Richard Belluzzo, the former chief executive officer of Silicon Graphics (SGI), is heading up its new online Consumer and Commerce Group (CCG).

Belluzzo resigned suddenly last week, and SGI said only that he would go to work for a company that would not compete with SGI.

On a conference call, Microsoft President Steve Ballmer announced that Belluzzo has joined the company as group vice president for CCG, and that Brad Chase and Jon DeVaan have been promoted to senior vice presidents.

Belluzzo, Chase and DeVaan will form the core leadership team of Microsoft's CCG.

Belluzzo will report directly to Ballmer.
