PC Direct opens helpdesk, store in South Island

PC Direct is expanding into the South Island, opening a showroom and customer service and support centre in Christ-church.

The company already has two retail sites in Auckland and one in Wellington. The Christchurch site is located in the old Southpower showroom, on the corner of Manchester and Armagh Streets. There will be seven staff at the Christchurch centre, including two service and support engineers.

The move follows the opening of a purpose-built support and technical develop-ment centre in Albany last month.

PC Direct sales and marketing manager Rowan Schaaf says the expansion into the South Island reflects the company’s commitment to a buoyant and growing market.

He says it had strong South Island support for its multimedia bundles, but until now customers had to deal with the company long distance.

“Research suggested that if we had a retail presence in the area it would receive solid support, and we’re confident that the Christchurch showroom will help us grow the market throughout the South Island.”
