Oracle targets specific markets with vertical applications

In its quest to expand its presence in the applications arena, Oracle has announced a plethora of new application packages designed to appeal to industry-specific customers. The packages include applications aimed at the federal government market, the automotive industry and the aerospace and defense sectors.

In its quest to expand its presence in the applications arena, Oracle has announced a plethora of new application packages designed to appeal to industry-specific customers.

At the Oracle Applications User Group meeting in Orlando, Florida, Oracle announced that new applications suites are now available for the government, automotive, and aerospace and defense sectors. Oracle Government HR is a human-resources application aimed at the federal government market and integrated with Oracle Financials; Oracle Automotive, integrated with Oracle Manufacturing and Oracle Supply Chain applications, is tailored to the needs of the automotive industry; and Oracle Project Manufacturing is an application aimed at the aerospace and defense sectors.

Oracle also announced a new sales, service, and support application suite targeted at the burgeoning sales force automation market.

This application suite includes Oracle Sales and Marketing, Oracle Sales Compensation, and Oracle Service. Pricing is US$12,500 for the core module and $2,500 per sales representative. Pricing for other new programs was not available.
