Serko and Xero launch travel app for small businesses

App enables businesses in New Zealand and Australia with up to 150 employees to make travel bookings online with no service fees.

New Zealand Stock Exchange listed Serko (NZX: SKO), a company that offers a range of software services to support corporate travel, has launched a new small business travel management application, serko.travel, in conjunction with Xero.

It enables businesses in New Zealand and Australia with up to 150 employees to make travel bookings online with no service fees.

Serko claims the app has been “designed to fundamentally change the way small businesses book and manage company travel,” by giving users access to “the same travel-booking technology and some of the same deals that are enjoyed by more than 6,000 large corporations across Australia and New Zealand today.”

It claims these features will “help businesses save hundreds of hours a year in admin time and drive significant cost savings through better travel management and policy compliance.”

The online functionality of serko.travel will be complemented by offline support from Helloworld for Business, Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel. These companies will offer ‘Travel Expert’ services ‘on demand’ so travellers will pay only when the use the services.

Serko has not provided any market guidance on the potential contribution of serko.travel to FY17 revenues but says it will provide an update on progress at its AGM on 23 August.
