Gigamon offers visibility into Amazon Web Services for NZ Enterprises

Gigamon has announced availability in New Zealand and Australia of the Gigamon Visibility Platform for Amazon Web Services, saying it provides consistent visibility into data in motion across an enterprise: on-premise, remote sites, public cloud, private, and hybrid architectures.

According to Ian Teague, Gigamon country manager for Australia and New Zealand, the platform is designed to make it easier for enterprise to automate their real-time data collection and security capabilities.

“With increasing volumes of enterprise data traversing both private enterprise networks and hybrid architectures, the Gigamon Visibility Platform delivers automated visibility into AWS workloads while accelerating the scale, performance and effectiveness of existing network security and monitoring toolsets,” Teague claimed.

According to Gigamons’ web page for the product, it helps enterprises overcome the problems managing, securing and understanding all their traversing the public cloud.

Gigamon says these challenges include: “the inability to access all traffic and data in support of forensics, customer experience management, advanced threat detection and monitoring tools, but also the lack of visibility into east-west — ie web-tier-to-app tier or app tier-to-database — traffic needed for compliancy, lateral threat mitigation and more.”

Gigamon claims that current security tools operating in public clouds lack complete access to this data of interest, but with the Gigamon Visibility Platform for AWS “Organisations can create a comprehensive visibility tier on an AWS virtual private cloud with one consistent way to access, categorise and consolidate the delivery of network traffic to out-of-band security and performance management tools.”
